Mount Nebo 02:36
An age I have so waited To behold such a sight With vigor ne’er abated From which I fled in fright A land we so deserved If not for lacking might Were I not perturbed We’d not have known such plight In desert’s wild we wandered Til this moment, mine Our weakness there we pondered Before His strength, divine Starvation, serpent’s poison Penance for our crime But mighty, here our children Their blades in daylight shine None can stand before us Our magic or our steel We reclaim our land, thus That which Canaan steals My blood, it boils asunder Excitement, here I feel Though He digs me under To bring the earth a meal The LORD has taken penance All I have to give To free my nation’s menace The curse in which I live Take my life, I pray And end our long exile That our children may Run these rivers like the Nile

They have come Warlords, the Jews Israelis in my city Two If, then The stories are true Of men who take bed on This roof Don't ask me why When fields burn throughout Moab And Sheol fills with women Don’t ask me why After mighty armies fall And Sheol fills with children You ask me why I would side with Israel In depths of the red sea Egyptian armies sleep Engulfed by endless waves Into their early graves From duty’s call are free The soldiers of the creed Their chariots and staves The pharaoh and his knaves Don't ask me why When fields burn throughout Moab And Sheol fills with women Don’t ask me why After mighty armies fall And Sheol fills with children You ask me why I would side with Israel A fire from Heshbon A flame out of Sihon Devour it Moab Laid waste so to Nophah So ruined to Dibon Don't ask me why When fields burn throughout Moab And Sheol fills with women Don’t ask me why After mighty armies fall And Sheol fills with children You ask me why I would side with Israel

Who is the Jordan’s master? Before Him waters cower The LORD of Israel and Judah They slice their very foreskin, Prepare themselves for war and Purification ‘fore their conquest Their shafts are left bruised Their fire burns anew This day will be rued By all who oppose them Who parts the sea near and far? So His people go before With unwashed swords and thirsty coffers My people melt and cower They know that soon they’ll suffer So they hide behind these walls of stone

A brisk morning walk One lap, every dawn Many men cower At they, almighty’s pawns Six single days Have they up and gone A walk around Jericho Beneath the summer’s sun Seven, seven, seven They lift their horns on high Yahweh yearns For his people's fight Shields, armor glisten Beneath the morning light Swords too thirsty To stop and ask Him why Shh, so quiet Seven left to go One, too, three They’ve just a few, I know Soon to make a meal For the buzzards and the crows Four, five, six To bring the walls low Seven, seven, seven Shout the words on high Yahweh burns With the spirit of the fight Walls now crumble Beneath the morning light Never had I thought To stop and ask Him why

I feel just as my city With rivers of blood flowing through my veins A massacre of people in my name The mighty god is with me With bated breath I listen for his screams Of hatred for my brethren here of Cain As a broadsword twisted in a wound The march of many thousand shakes the ground To topple walls of innocents and stone Everyone I knew, their sons and daughters Goats and wolves before the shepherd's slaughter Screaming, "Rahab! Oh if we had stopped her!" Man, woman, child burning Bones crushing, organs popping Feces and fetuses erupting Jericho is falling Set ablaze, the city falls to ashes Uncleanliness our roaring fire it washes From dust to dust, our army it amasses To serve the god of Abraham and anger A jealous one, the conqueror of strangers Who makes my people, Canaanites endangered My spirit bears the pain of genocide As my name, my sins are spread too wide In Sheol I will wither, again die Before my eyes Man, woman, child burning Bones crushing, organs popping Feces and fetuses erupting Jericho is falling

about

In the biblical book of Joshua, the people of Israel and Judah invade the land which their god has 'given' them, starting with the walled city of Jericho. A woman named Rahab helps their spies in exchange for having her and her family's life spared. This album re-imagines the horror and brutality of an entire city's massacre from the perspective of the citizen who betrayed it.
